Introduction of the Japanese traditional hotel, Konya

Konya Welcome to Konya. Feel and experience the traditional life style of Japan.
Our hotel has been around for 300 years to provide accommodations to travelers. We welcome you to this sacred land and hot springs. While you are visiting here, we hope you make an ever-lasting connection with the person important in your life. Our hotel used to be a place to do aizome (indigo dyeing) during the Kyoho years of Edo era and also a place to offer accommodations to visitors who seek to treat their illness in the hot springs of Tamatsukuri Onsen. Our hotel first opened in 1893 under the name of Yonagokan. In 1951, the hotel was renamed to the current name Konya, which means an indigo dye store. Thus, the name is finally connected to our history.

About Izumo / Tamatsukuri Onsen

Izumo is a birthplace of ancient Japanese tales. Our hotel, Konya, is situated in the beautiful green area of Tamatsukuri Onsen, which is known as the sacred springs of the Japan gods. Izumo is in the eastern part of Shimane Prefecture. Izumo Taisha Grand Shrine, the Japan's oldest shrine is about 50 - 60 minutes away by car from our ryokan. There are various ways to get to Izumo Taisha. You can go there by train, by bus or by car. We recommend that you hire a rental car at JR Matsue Station, at Izumo airport or from Kansai region such as Kobe, Osaka or Kyoto. Since Izumo Taisha is located in the outskirts of Izumo City, staying in Tamatsukuri Onsen makes much easier your tour to the popular sightseeing spots including Izumo Taisha.
